This post has been created to talk about my tastes and style when it comes to designing homes.

Girl Bedrooms.

When it comes to designing a bedroom, I believe less is more. A bedroom for a college girl should consist of minimalist efforts for decorating. When it comes to decorating walls, I think it is always a good idea to add artwork. The pictures below are some that I think utilize wall space well.

As you may have noticed, these are all images where the artwork is above the bed. Usually above the bed and on the wall across from the bed is where there is the most wall space in the bedroom. A cluster of two or three pictures is normal when hanging artwork in a bedroom. The Spruce website has many good tips on where to hang artwork in the bedroom and around the house. I enjoy simpler artwork than most may. I believe a piece of artwork shows a lot about your personality and how you manage your life. These simpler pieces of work show the calm and collected side of a person. Whereas a lot of college girls may like the paintings of high-end brand logos. I believe these people have not found their real taste yet. It takes a lot for a person to figure out their personal likes and dislikes when it comes to interior design elements.

Boy Bedrooms.

In my opinion, boys have a little more flexibility with the amount of things they are able to hang on their walls. Boys tend to have bigger pieces of artwork in their bedroom including (but not limited to) framed jerseys, animal heads (hunting) and various posters. I think it is good for a boy to aim for the minimalistic vibe but while keeping the personality they are proud of.

The first image is my personal favorite out of the three. It is a clean cut, modern room with a cluster of three painted photographs. I think that this bedroom utilizes the minimalistic values while still keeping the characteristics of their personality. My least favorite out of the three picture is the last one, it uses the word “cluster” in a bad way. There are too many things happening in one little space A better way to use the same decorations in a different way would be to spread the hats across the wall opposite of the bed. If this were to happen, it would make the room feel bigger and more spacious because the cluster of items is gone. Like the middle picture, I think all college boys should have a flag in their room at least once. The way the second picture framed the flags is a brilliant idea. It makes it look like the flags are there intentionally instead of just hung with push pins by a college boy.

Living Rooms.

As you may have learned from reading above, less is more when it comes to decorating a home and making it feel like a home.

These two examples of living rooms caught my eye because of the colors and decorations in the room. Even though the first picture is only of a wall, it gives a sense for how the rest of the room is going to be, minimalistic. The second photo give us a wider view of the whole room. In this room, they were able to successfully get away with more photos by adding shelves for them to sit on. The wall is intentionally clustered and it works.

I hope you have enjoyed my tips, likes and dislikes for rooms around the house! I hope I have inspired you for your next house project. Always remember, less is more.
