Slow and Steady Progress

Since we spoke last, I have made some great progress on my restaurant remake. As I mentioned before, I chose to re-create Blackbird Gastropub’s elements using the different applications of Adobe. I left off with an unfinished logo for this restaurant and I am very pleased to say that I have a finished logo and a cover to a menu! With last week being a difficult one for me, I was not able to make as much progress as I had hoped. But, I am back on track now and ready to finish this strong!

First, I am going to tell the process behind finishing the new logo for Blackbird. I ended up sticking with the same base to my logo as last time, which I am happy with. I originally wanted to add a white outline of the bird behind the black one, but I realized this was not the best route. I then thought about adding an oval behind the already created logo, I did not like this either. Finally I found a clean, slick look that I was happy with. I found a shape of a hollow oval on The Noun Project and decided that is what I wanted to use. Below is my finished logo for Blackbird Gastropub in Norman, Oklahoma.

Of course my logo has a transparent background but with the way I have my blog set up, I am unable to put it in as a transparent image.

Next we have the menu cover page. Originally I wanted to stick with all black, white and red, but I also want to keep some of the same elements Blackbird has already established. Because of this, I have decided to incorporate green into my menu and menu cover. As I said in the last post, I used Adobe Photoshop to create the new logo. I think the best way to recreate the menu and the menu cover will be through Adobe Illustrator. While today I will only be sharing the menu cover with you, I am excited to share the finished product in a very short time from now. View below for my new menu cover.
