Practice Makes Perfect (well almost)
From where we left off last time, I was slowly figuring out the world of Photoshop. I am happy to say that my skills have improved greatly. In my last blog post, I spoke about how I was having some issues learning Photoshop, I figured out some of them and now I am having different issues. I was able to create a piece of work that I became happy with, but it didn’t come easily.
First, I took a different path from my Ikea collage. I decided to go the way of a clothing company, Lululemon. I quickly figured out this was a harder route to take because of the hair on their models. Below is the collage I made for Lululemon. I found this to be hard because all the models I found were facing different directions. This is similar to the issue I had when creating the collage for Ikea. When creating the collage for Ikea, I found that because I took the pictures in different rooms of my house, the lighting on each piece was different.
I enjoyed this collage because of the colors, but unfortunately I could not submit it for a grade because I did not take the pictures myself. I enjoyed creating this collage because it was a good learning experience. This is where I knew the concept of cropping hair in Photoshop was a difficult task to complete.
Next, I decided to go with a group of pictures I took all at the same location at the same time to minimize the time differences in the lighting of the collage. The next and final collage I created and submitted was for Mesero , a Mexican restaurant in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I knew this collage would be fun for me right from the get-go, but I did not yet grasp the concept of putting all the cropped images into one final piece. Below is the '“rough draft” of my final product.
After realizing that I could not have a transparent background for the purpose of this assignment, I had to go a different way. Cropping these images was fairly easy and more fun than tedious. A difficult part of this collage was still learning how to crop out the hair. I am very pleased with my final product and you can view it below.
I think the final product of the collage assignment turned out really well and I am pleased with the results. I chose the blue tile background because the inside of all the Mesero restaurant I have been to are mainly orange and blue. The large drink in the back of this picture is a Frozé and it is one of their most popular menu items. Adding this drink in the background provides the customers with a view of something to look forward to when going to Mesero.
We have been working with Photoshop for a couple weeks now and I am excited to continue learning the Adobe applications. Next, we will be learning the basic concepts of the In Design application from Adobe.
Keep reading to see how my journey with this new application plays out.
